Blagojevich

So this guy didn't show up to his own impeachment trial.  Instead he goes on the View and other media channels and tries to protest his impeachment saying it is unconstitutional.  Here is his argument;  the State Senate will not let him bring witness in to help him clear the charges therefore he is not getting due process and therefore it is unconstitutional.

The first problem is that it is not the Senate that is blocking witnesses, it is the prosecuting attorney for his upcoming criminal trial who has requested that witness be kept out of it so as not to compromise the criminal trial.  The second problem with this argument is that both him and the Senate will not be able to bring witnesses, so they are on even ground.

He then goes on to use his election, his being elected by the people of the State of Illinois as a grounds to establish his uncompromising legitimacy as Governor.  Well Rob, you blew that when you tried to sell the Senate seat.  Now granted you are innocent till proven guilty, but they got you on tape man.  The tapes have not been released, and rightly so, but none-the-less you are on tape.  He says that they are taken out of context.  Sure context is valuable but I am sure they took that into account otherwise they will have an extremely weak case.

Then he says that he is the victim here, that he is being railroaded by the Senate so they can raise taxes.  This guy is smart.  He is doing a dog and pony show, trying to pull all attention off the real issues at hand.

Lastly, in an appalling metaphor he said he takes solace in knowing that Dr. King, Ghandi, and Mandela were all imprisoned like him.  They were imprisoned because they were fighting oppression.  He was imprisoned because of greed.  Again, another example of a politician participating in a broken and corrupt system of government that places the interest of the self over the the other.

Rob, your not guilty yet but you got a long way to clear yourself of these allegations.  Do everyone a favor and shut your mouth, sit down, and wait for your trial.
